Kyriakos G. Siderakis was born in Heraklion Crete in 1976. He received a diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a PhD in High Voltage Engineering from the University of Patras in 2000 and 2006 respectively. Since 2008 until 2010 he worked as a consultant for Public Power Corporation in the field of high voltage installations and operation of high voltage networks. In 2010 he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Technological Educational Institute of Crete, as a full time lecturer and further Assistant Professor. Since 2019 is an Associate Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Hellenic Mediterranean University. Also since 2016 he joined the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator S.A., where he is head of the high voltage substations sector of Crete and also head of Crete and Rhodes high voltage transmission lines sector. He has published 24 papers in Scientific Journals, 2 in technical magazines, 2 book chapters, 49 international conference papers and 16 Greek conference papers. He has been a member of the research team in many research projects and the scientific manager of three research projects funded by the Public Power Corporation. Also he is a member of the TALOS high voltage test station research team (www.talos-ts.com). His research interests, high voltage insulating systems and materials, power transformers, equipment maintenance and diagnostics, high voltage networks, automation and protection systems. Also participates to the revision committee of IEEE Std 1523 “IEEE Guide for the Application, Maintenance, and Evaluation of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) Silicone Rubber Coatings for Outdoor Insulation Applications” and is a member of CIGRE WG B2.57, Survey of operational Composite Insulator Experience and Application Guide for Composite Insulators.
