Antonis Tsikalakis
was born in Greece in 1979. He received his diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from NTUA in 2002. He received his PhD on “Operation of Distributed networks with increased share of Renewable Energy and Distributed Generation and contribution of energy storage” in 2008. His research interests include optimization of power system operation, Dispersed Generation and energy storage. During the Period December 2015-December 2017 has worked as an engineer for the Hellenic Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) in the Islands Network Operation Department and its Crete-Rhodes division. There he has acted as an Operator of the Energy Dispatch Center of the Island of Crete and has also participated in the committee for the most efficient Utilization of the new Power Station in South Rhodes. He also participated in the committee for the Translation of the Grid Code for Non-Interconnected Island Systems.

He has teaching experience on Renewable Energy Sources, Power Systems (RES integration, management and operation, transmission and distribution systems), Electrical Machines, Energy Management in Buildings, Power Systems, Smart Homes, Energy Storage Systems since 2009 in Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Crete and the Technical University of Crete.

Since December 2017 is a member of the staff, Assistant professor of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the Engineering School of the Hellenic Mediterranean University with scientific area  “Electricity Management”.

Since November 2018 he has been the co-ordinator of the Erasmus+ project, Mastering Energy Supply focusing on Isolated Areas (MESfIA). Dr Tsikalakis has also participated in the following Research projects:

Dr. Tsikalakis is an IEEE member and member of the Technical Chamber of Greece for which he has participated as a Group in the research team entitled “Investigation of potential long and short-term benefits of the widespread use of RES on the island Power System of Crete.”
