Short CV

Dimitrios Papageorgiou is an assistant professor (since July 2022) at the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU), in the subject of “Control and automation systems with emphasis on robotics applications” and an affiliated researcher (since November 2022) at the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH). He obtained his ECE Diploma in 2013 and his PhD in 2019, both from the ECE Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). His PhD thesis was on Cooperative Robot Control using Dynamical Systems and Constraint Enforcement. His research interests mainly include robot control, physical human-robot interaction, learning by demonstration, control of quadruped robots, active perception and the use of Artificial Intelligence in control problems. He has taken part in 5 European and 3 national research projects related to robot control in industry, robotically assisted surgery, agricultural applications, quadruped robots, and has also received 2 grants for his PhD and post-doctoral research respectively. He is currently the Coordinator and Principal Investigator of the CARPOS (Coachable Robot for fruit Picking Operations) project and the project manager of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions doctoral network RAICAM (Robotics and AI for Critical Asset Monitoring). He is an Associate Editor of IEEE-Robotics and Automation Letters, a reviewer in leading scientific journals and conferences related to robotics and automatic control and he has evaluated research proposals of other countries. He is the co-author of more than 24 papers, which are published in scientific journals (such as “IEEE Transaction on Robotics” and “Robotics and Computer integrated Manufacturing”) and in international conferences (such as IEEE ICRA, IROS and CDC) in the field of Robotics and Automatic Control.
